UDL Lesson Planning

I am teaching addition in my Kindergarten classroom. My students should be able to use single digit numbers that add up to 10. I need to access my students to see what level they are at with addition. Here are many ways to assess students with ID, starting with the material being taught. The two ways to go about teaching material is formative and summative, both are good ways depending on how the students understand what is being taught. Once material is presented some forms of assessment can be done via homework, observation of how the student is performing in class and 1 on 1 asking the students questions. How the student learns is different by the student, some learn with groups while some learn individually, some learn with noise and some learn with silence, because of these differences, room setup is crucial for their learning of the subject (Do-It, 2022). For students with alternate disabilities including blind, mute, deaf or different language, universal design technologies for learning are appropriate. Different forms of this technology include braille, translators, videos, etc. Activities to assess adding singular digits to 10: 1. Turn into a interactive story. 2. Worksheets 3. Oral questioning 4. Games (fill in circles, draw) 5. Real life scenarios with items in the classroom
