Math Support
The grade I am choosing to discuss math support resources is Kindergarten. I would write a letter to the parents and suggest a conference. Here are the standards for kindergarten for the three areas which are number sense, computations, and word problems.

Here is a letter I would send out to the families in my classroom as additional information on guidance for children who may need math support.
Dear Guardians and parents,
I have noticed that some children in my class may need assistance for the three areas regarding the math support. I have listed the standards from the Florida State Standards that your child/children need to learn during the school year in kindergarten. I am also providing the 5 resources you can use to assist in your child education. The description of the website, pictures, and how to access the websites listed. I hope these resources will be helpful to your child education. Email me for any further comments or concerns and I will be happy to assist you and schedule ant conferences needed moving forward. Word Problems: MA.K12.MTR.7 Apply mathematics into real world contexts.

Description: For understanding word problems and relating them to real world context can be used as an opportunity to practice understanding how much each coin is worth. They can determine the name of the coin, how much the coin is worth, and then how many of these coins will equal to $1. The picture above is a chart that shows how much the coins are worth and the name of the coins. Use this chart to help your child. Use different word problems like: If Sally bought 4 oranges each are worth 10 cents each. Which coin can Sally use to pay for the oranges and how many cents does Sally need to have for 4 oranges? How to access: You can also practice by adding and subtracting manipulatives to solve the word problems. The coins can be from your wallet or a play money set. Whichever you decide. Get creative make it fun.
Number sense: MA.KAR.1. Represent and solve addition problems with sums between 0 and 10 and subtraction problems using related facts.

It is a wonderful resource for your child who struggles with number sense even addition and subtraction. It gives fun ways to work on number sense in your home and gives tips on how to teach and practice numbers with kindergarteners.
How to access: Go to the website listed above and read the following tips as tools and a resource on how to connect with your child better and work on number sense.
Computation: In Kindergarten, they are just understanding the use of computers and how to use it. In my classroom we use computers as an educational tool for different subjects including math. For extra support, ABC mouse can be used as a resource to get some extra practice and assistance in their grade level.

Description: ABC mouse can be used as a resource to get some extra practice and assistance in their grade level in any subject. I love this website because it also provides fun educational games to make children love to learn.
How to access: To access ABC mouse you would need create an account, sign up for a payment plan, (it is a membership website requiring a subscription but can be cancelled anytime), and then select the grade level. Not only is this useful as a math resource it also assists in emergent literacy, phonics, and more educational games for other subject areas.
